Jennifer Pickett sorgt sich in ihrer wöchentlichen Kolumne At Your Library um den Teil der Bevölkerung, der von den Entwicklungen der Web-Gesellschaft zunehmend abgehängt wird.
I am increasingly worried about the expanding digital divide or the gap that exists between people with access to information technology and those who don’t have that access. More and more people are coming to the library who need something they can only get on the Internet but they don’t have the skills to find it themselves. Some of these things are quick to find, but increasingly people are looking for help filling out online forms or doing research that involves entering personal information into the computer.

Wer weiß, wie man sich online bewegt, dem wird also zu noch mehr Wissen verholfen. Wer nicht, darf zwar GEZ bezahlen, bleibt aber außen vor.
