John Miedema schreibt in der neuen Code4Lib-Ausgabe über sein OpenBook WordPress Plugin
OpenBook is a WordPress PHP plugin that implements the Open Library APIs to insert book covers, titles, authors and publishers into web pages. The motive behind the development was to provide an easy alterative to the common practice of linking to Amazon. Open Library was selected as a data source because it is both open source and open data.The plugin is useful for book reviewers, library webmasters, anyone who wants to put book covers and data on their WordPress blog or website. The plugin also allows users to add links to publisher websites, a feature that was considered significant to independent publishers.
Damit wäre die Arbeit an ISBN2WP wohl weitgehend überflüssig und wird folglich eingestellt.

Gerade via VZG-Newsletter ins Haus geflattert:
Ab sofort zeigen wir in GSO in der Volltitelanzeige das Monographien-Cover, sofern zu einer gegebenen ISBN ein Cover in unserem DMS bzw. bei LibraryThing vorliegt. Der Dienst ist zunächst noch experimentell und wird momentan auch für die OPC4-Anzeige vorbereitet.
Im DMS der Verbundzentrale liegen aktuell etwa 2,5 Millionen Cover zu vorwiegend englischsprachigen Titeln von Nielsen Bookdata vor.
Über die Positionierung des Covers lässt sich streiten, aber der Schritt, fremde Dienste aufzunehmen, ist offensichtlich nicht mehr verpönt. Hervorragend!

Number One
Gloria Garnora from Chile sent this composition in red, yellow and white to us. She used GIMP to make this cover. And here it is:

Laura Regnault sent this fine piece of cover art. She wants to express the “colorful flow of information in library blog world”.

The next contribution came from Germany. The author calls himself Bücherninja (German for books ninja). He is convinced that the library world needs more ninja spirit:

The next cover was designed by Edlef Stabenau, founder of Germany’s oldest and most popular biblioblog Netbib. He chose to use Wordle to produce his picture.

After receiving overwhelming positive resonance from our readers and our LibWorld authors we would like to publish a book with updated LibWorld articles. And now we are searching for the ultimate LibWorld book cover!
When you are inspired by the idea of connecting global librarianship and maybe you are a bit talented in graphics: Make a book cover and send it to us. Deadline is 6th of July. We will make a public vote for the winner. And the winner wins the book cover. ;-)

- The book (including the cover) will be published under a creative commons licence (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0/)
- Size: 15,24×22,86mm (6″ x 9″); Pixel: 1913 x 2925
- The Cover can be sent to us .PSD file or as .GIF file. We would appreciate to get both.
- The artwork should include:

Tim Spalding schreibt im Thingology-Blog des öfteren über interessante Mashups- und APIs rund um das Buch. Unter anderen natürlich auch über die GBS API, mit der man unter anderem Buchcover in Kataloge holen kann. Bzw. könnte, wenn man dürfte. Mehr darüber bei Thingology.
