Computer Dance

Wer kennt sie nicht, diese Szenen? Direkt aus der “Einführung in die Literaturverwaltung”:

Hippe Frisuren, dufte Kleidung, knorke Musik.

Get it loud in the libraries

The Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA) presents a toolkit for libraries that want to organize concerts in their rooms.

This March sees the national roll-out of Get It Loud In Libraries. The award
winning programme of live music in public libraries, which has witnessed incendiary
performances from critically acclaimed artists as Adele, Bat For Lashes and Florence
+ The Machine, reverberate amongst the traditionally quiet bookshelves. Kicking off
the month of music will be the talented 16 year old pop starlet, Daisy Dares You,
who is seen as the perfect act to launch the UK franchise.

Get It Loud In Libraries originates from libraries in Lancashire, where the tiny
stage has showcased the talents of The Blackout, British Sea Power and Juliette
Lewis. The project was conceived by Stewart Parsons of Lancashire Libraries to
allow more relevant cultural access to libraries for young people who love music
but don’t necessarily use libraries, and is proving a popular original format for
delivering the traditional library brief to entertain, inform and educate.

Get it Loud in Libraries encourages everyone to get involved, so if you or your
library would like to take part, the Get it Loud in Libraries toolkit offers a
step-by-step guide to staging live music events in public libraries.

In the Get it Loud guide there’s plenty of information about booking and all the other things a live venue should know about.

HTML 5 vs. Flash, H.264 vs. Theora

Theora. Daher bleibt der Firefox erst einmal ausgeschlossen. Dies widerspricht übrigens der offiziellen Google-Politik in Sachen “offene Standards”:

Open will win. It will win on the Internet and will then cascade across many walks of life: The future of government is transparency. The future of commerce is information symmetry. The future of culture is freedom. The future of science and medicine is collaboration. The future of entertainment is participation. Each of these futures depends on an open Internet.

File under “Sonntagsrede”? Mal sehen, was sich nun entwickelt.

Live in the library 14: Audacious Bibliosophs aka QC and the Sunshine Band

The 14th library gig I found is a special one. It’s not only in a library. The band members happen to be librarians. Of course: librarians who are cool enough to play “Wipe out” in their library are bloggers, too. At least two of them. My recommendation: Read those two postings (1, 2) and listen to the Audacious Bibliosophs aka QC and the Sunshine Band:

The Audacious Bibliosophs- LIVE IN CONCERT from Daniel Messer on Vimeo.

Their self-description:

There happens to be a large amount of musicians on staff at the Queen Creek Branch Library. A while back we decided to get together, form a band, and then play for a programme during our summer reading time! Holly leads things off by telling the kiddos that learning a musical instrument takes time and then we get into the thick of things with filked renditions of Tequila (Queen Creek Library Rocks), Wipe Out, Hang On Sloopy (Hang On Library), Margaritaville (Summer Reading Time), and What a Wonderful World.

Live in the library 13: 2L8 – Excuse Me, but I Just Have to Explode

Most of the library gigs I found so far took place in the USA. Here we’ve got one from Greece. 2L8 performed part I & II of a song with the excellent title “Excuse Me, but I Just Have to Explode” in the Serres Public Central Library. I didn’t find evidences that the building was destroyed by 2L8′s explosion.
