CERL WORKSHOP:
Signa vides. Researching and recording printers’ devices: current activities and new
perspectivesOrganised by Prof. Dr. Anja Wolkenhauer (Tübingen), Michaela Scheibe (Berlin), and
Dr. Andreas Fingernagel (Vienna)
TUESDAY, 17 MARCH 2015, 14.00-17.45
WEDNESDAY, 18 MARCH 2015, 09.30-13.30Researching and recording printers’ devices can be a real challenge, but the necessity to find adequate solutions cannot be denied. Printers’ devices combine
pictures, texts (mottoes) and printer-related information in very elaborated and variable ways, which ask for specific bibliographical tools. Moreover, a certain
part of them lost its original context and can be found today in single-leaf collections, which need specific kinds of indexing for their part. After a long
period of scientific neglect, today there are a lot of current initiatives to establish models of description in different databases.
The workshop aims at making a survey of current research activities and discuss possible methods of description in order to link those initiatives and get confirmed standards for recording printers’ devices in future projects.Venue:
Austrian National Library, Josefsplatz 1, A-1015 Vienna. Room: Oratorium.
Attendance is free, but places are limited, so please contact us at secretariat@cerl.org to register.
