Live in the library 14: Audacious Bibliosophs aka QC and the Sunshine Band

The 14th library gig I found is a special one. It’s not only in a library. The band members happen to be librarians. Of course: librarians who are cool enough to play „Wipe out“ in their library are bloggers, too. At least two of them. My recommendation: Read those two postings (1, 2) and listen to the Audacious Bibliosophs aka QC and the Sunshine Band:

The Audacious Bibliosophs- LIVE IN CONCERT from Daniel Messer on Vimeo.

Their self-description:

There happens to be a large amount of musicians on staff at the Queen Creek Branch Library. A while back we decided to get together, form a band, and then play for a programme during our summer reading time! Holly leads things off by telling the kiddos that learning a musical instrument takes time and then we get into the thick of things with filked renditions of Tequila (Queen Creek Library Rocks), Wipe Out, Hang On Sloopy (Hang On Library), Margaritaville (Summer Reading Time), and What a Wonderful World.

Live in the library 13: 2L8 – Excuse Me, but I Just Have to Explode

Most of the library gigs I found so far took place in the USA. Here we’ve got one from Greece. 2L8 performed part I & II of a song with the excellent title „Excuse Me, but I Just Have to Explode“ in the Serres Public Central Library. I didn’t find evidences that the building was destroyed by 2L8’s explosion.

Live in the library 7: The Greens of Mind – Escaping From Alcatraz

The Greens of Mind live on June 8, 2009 at Athenaeum Music & Arts Library, La Jolla, CA playing „Escaping From Alcatraz“ as part of „Acoustic Evenings at The Athenaeum with Jefferson Jay“ series.

Live in the library 6: Mika Miko – Wild Bore

Live gigs in the library seems to be almost always been held by musicians who like to play soft and quiet.
Mika Miko, a punk rock band from Los Angeles, USA, like it hard and loud and they proved that on April 20th, 2008 in the Los Angeles Central Library.

I’m not really sure if this song is called „Wild Bore“ or „Capricorinations“. Los Angeles punk rock librarians, can you help me? And if you find other nice clips of live gigs in libraries please tell me in the comments! All songs will be tagged with „live in the library„.

Update: Sorry, I embedded the wrong video clip…

Live in the library 5: No Age – Sleeper Hold

No Age call themselves a experimental / powerpop / punk band (at least on MySpace). On April 20th, 2008 they performed live at the Los Angeles Central Library.

Live in the library obviously doesn’t have to be nice and quiet.

Live in the library 4: Molly, Joho & Daddy – Mirador (by Efterklang)

Not really live in a library but at least in front of a library and organized by a library is this song. World’s famous Molly, Jojo & Daddy are performing a song called „Mirador“. It’s orginally by the Danish band Efterklang. I doubt that they can perform this song as intense as Molly, Joho & Daddy do. But you can check yourself at Efterklangs current tour through Europe.

Live in the library 2: Peter Morén – Take On Me

Bibliothekspop was an event in december 2009 in Stockholm. The public library presented some live gigs in their own building. One of those gigs was by Peter Morén, who is very popular in Sweden as a member of Peter, Bjorn and John. Here you can see him with his version of a song originally by another wellknown band from Scandinavia.

Thanks to Peter!
