No Age call themselves a experimental / powerpop / punk band (at least on MySpace). On April 20th, 2008 they performed live at the Los Angeles Central Library.
Live in the library obviously doesn’t have to be nice and quiet.
If you find other clips of live gigs in libraries please tell me in the comments! All songs will be tagged with „live in the library„.
Liblogs–blogs written by library people, as opposed to official library blogs–provide some of today’s most interesting and useful library literature. This book offers a broad look at English-language liblogs as they are and as they’ve changed between 2007 and 2008. The book includes more than 600 blogs with detailed analysis of 27 metrics for 2007 and 2008 and changes from 2007 to 2008–and, for 143 of them, 2006 as well. Through tables, charts and text, we explore the liblog landscape.
Cutting 220 jobs throughout the city government, approximately one third of those layoffs will come from the library staff.
Shortly after becoming mayor, former city officials and Wasilla residents said, Ms. Palin approached the town librarian about the possibility of banning some books, though she never followed through and it was unclear which books or passages were in question.
Anne Kilkenny, a Democrat who said she attended every City Council meeting in Ms. Palin’s first year in office, said Ms. Palin brought up the idea of banning some books at one meeting. “They were somehow morally or socially objectionable to her,” Ms. Kilkenny said.
The librarian, Mary Ellen Emmons, pledged to “resist all efforts at censorship,” Ms. Kilkenny recalled. Ms. Palin fired Ms. Emmons shortly after taking office but changed course after residents made a strong show of support. Ms. Emmons, who left her job and Wasilla a couple of years later, declined to comment for this article.
In 1996, Ms. Palin suggested to the local paper, The Frontiersman, that the conversations about banning books were “rhetorical.”
Every genre of American music is represented: rock; jazz; country; R&B; blues; new age; Broadway and Hollywood; bluegrass; folk; children’s; comedy; Christmas, and more. No other collection in the world – publicly or privately held – even comes close.
The History of American music belongs in a museum or a library; a place where people who love music and have an interest in history and popular American culture can look, listen, touch, read and appreciate this legacy for future generations. It could be part of a stand-alone music museum, a major exhibit in an existing museum, or the basis of a university music library. Cleverly arranged and displayed, and surrounded by additional cultural memorabilia, the collection could even become a tourist attraction.
Although, as the new owner, you are free to do as you please with the collection, We’d love to find a buyer who will keep the collection intact (other than to sell duplicate copies, if so desired) and to keep the music alive for the enjoyment and music lovers, now and for years to come.
If you represent a museum, library, university, or charitable foundation, or you’re a philanthropist interested in purchasing the collection and donating it, please contact the owner’s representatives for more information, pricing and a personal on-site inspection.
In recent years the blogosphere of the USA emerged as the most advanced worldwide.
In september 2007 the Online Education Database wanted to find out „which librarian bloggers have the biggest reach“. [1]http://oedb.org/library/features/top-25-librarian-bloggers-by-the-numbers
The result was clear: Twenty of the 25 biblioblogs with the biggest response came from the United States, four were Canadians and one from the Philippines.
